Welcome to 30andme. By using our mobile application and website (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Community Guidelines, which form part of this agreement.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 28 years of age to use 30andme. We verify age at sign-up and reserve the right to re-verify at any time and to terminate any account that does not meet this requirement.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You may only create one account per person.
- All information you provide must be accurate and truthful.
- You may not impersonate another person or entity.
3. Profile Immutability
30andme uses an immutable profile system. You have a short editing window after completing onboarding; once it closes, your compatibility answers are locked for good. This is a deliberate design choice, not a fault, and we do not reopen profiles on request. Your city can be changed once a month, and you can pause introductions at any time.
4. Matching & Communication
- Introductions are generated by our compatibility algorithm twice a day.
- You are introduced to one person at a time. While you are connected, new introductions pause for both of you.
- Matched users receive a 7-day chat window. Messages are deleted automatically 7 days after the last message in a conversation and cannot be recovered by you or by us.
- Contact information may only be shared through mutual consent.
- We do not guarantee any specific outcome from introductions. See section 9.
5. Acceptable Use
Our Community Guidelines set out the full rules of conduct and are binding. In summary, you agree not to:
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Send spam, solicitations, or commercial content
- Share explicit, offensive, or illegal content
- Ask any member for money, gifts, loans, or investments, in any form and for any stated reason
- Impersonate anyone, or use photographs that are not of you
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the matching algorithm
We may remove content, restrict matching, suspend, or permanently delete any account we believe breaches these Terms or the Community Guidelines. For serious breaches we act without prior warning.
6. Content Ownership
You retain ownership of your submitted content. By using the Service, you grant 30andme a limited license to use this content solely for providing the Service.
7. Membership, Payments & Refunds
30andme is currently free while in beta. When paid membership becomes available, the following applies.
- All payments are final. We do not offer refunds, credits, or pro-rated returns for any unused portion of a membership or pass, including where you stop using the Service, delete your account, or have your account suspended or terminated for breaching these Terms.
- Memberships renew automatically until you cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not refund the period you have already paid for, and your membership continues until that period ends.
- Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by Apple or Google, and any refund those stores choose to grant is governed entirely by their policies, not ours. Cancel through your store account, not by emailing us.
- Paying for membership buys access to the Service. It does not buy introductions, matches, replies, or outcomes of any kind.
- We may change pricing at any time. Changes never apply to a period you have already paid for.
- Nothing here limits any refund right you have under mandatory consumer law in your country, where such law applies and cannot be waived.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from inside the app, and deletion is immediate and permanent. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with no refund and no obligation to explain our reasoning in detail.
9. No Guarantee
30andme is an introduction service. We do not guarantee, promise, or represent that:
- you will receive any introduction, or any particular number of them
- anyone will accept an introduction, reply to you, agree to meet you, or continue speaking to you
- any introduction, conversation, or meeting will result in a relationship or any other outcome
- any member is who they claim to be, is single, or has honest intentions
- the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in your city
We do not conduct criminal background checks on members. Selfie verification confirms only that the person in the photograph took the photograph. It confirms nothing about their name, history, marital status, or intentions. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and in person. Please read the safety section of our Community Guidelines before meeting anyone.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding reliability, accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, 30andme shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for the conduct of any member, whether online or in person.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and continuing to use 30andme after an update means you accept it.
